Behind the Lens
Photographer, storyteller, and media collaborator exploring presence, atmosphere, and lived experience
Photography is another sense — my camera an extension of how I experience the world.
I work as a photojournalist and editorial photographer, attuned to people, place, and lived experience. I’m drawn to atmosphere and presence, working from within moments rather than directing them, with attention to energy, texture, and the feeling of being there. I also document emerging cultural movements, including the spiritual and wellbeing scene, where my presence-led approach allows the energy and atmosphere of events and communities to be captured authentically. My work spans music, live events, food, animals, landscapes, and emerging cultural movements, reflecting the diversity of the moments I encounter.
Alongside my visual practice, I am also a commentary copywriter, writing from archives and in response to photography, culture, and social context. My writing, like my imagery, is rooted in observation and lived experience, allowing stories to be told with care, clarity, and depth. I combine photography and writing to tell stories visually and narratively, offering a holistic approach to storytelling.
My work has been featured in The Financial Times, The Independent, and the BBC, across print and online platforms both regionally and internationally. I work in-house and freelance, shaping bespoke imagery and narrative across editorial, digital, and commercial contexts. My approach is calm, intuitive, and collaborative, creating space for people and environments to be seen as they are, without performance or interruption. I work with individuals, creative clients, and organisations to capture imagery that reflects personality, atmosphere, and lived experience, adapting to diverse environments and cultures.
I was shortlisted for the inaugural Rebecca Vassie Memorial Award and currently work across editorial, documentary, and news photography, alongside my role with The Independent and Evening Standard.
Alongside my photographic and writing practice, I have extensive experience in photography production and digital asset management. I spent several years as Photography Director at Point O’ Pines in upstate New York, and later worked within the UK charity sector as an Image Editor and Photography Producer for the UK’s largest charity for girls and young women. I now nurture collaborative media projects across commercial and charity partnerships, as well as large-scale archive-led exhibitions, including work featured at the pioneering digital exhibition space Outernet on London’s Tottenham Court Road. I continue this work as Distribution and Library Executive for Independent News and Media Ltd, alongside private commissions.
